Installation
Good
quality fitting and installation is essential. Have it done by a professional.
Vacuum
Cleaning
Man-made fibre carpets and wool twist pile carpets should be vaccumed regularly
as soon as they are laid. New velvet pile carpets need time for the fibres to
bed-down and therefore should not be vacuumed for 2-3 weeks after fitting. Instead
they should be brushed with a carpet sweeper in the direction of the pile. During
this time use the nozzle of the vacuum cleaner to pick up any isolated pieces.
Vacuuming
Loop Pile
These should be vacuumed using a cylinder cleaner using the suction head only.
Avoid using beater heads and brushes as they will catch on the fibres and cause
bobbling.
Vacuuming
Cut Pile
These should be vacuumed with an upright cleaner with a beater bar and brush.
Maintenance
Vacuum your carpet at least two or three times a week.
Use a large, strong doormat to reduce dirt from outside coming into the
house.
Avoid using light coloured carpet next to external entrances.
Cleaning
Spillages should be dealt with immediately. Blot all the liquid off with
dry kitchen towel.
Any remaining stain should be cleaned using a clean damp cloth soaked in
warm water with a little white vinegar to blot the stain. Use
a dabbling action with the cloth and then blot any liquid that
remains with dry kitchen towel.
Do not rub the pile surface or oversoak the stain.
Always work from the outside of the stain towards the middle.
